This course gives you a "taste of counselling", and introduces you to basic counselling skills. It examines the ethics of counselling and how counselling is practiced. It is very useful for those who work with the general public and, also, for those wish to develop their interpersonal skills or wish to progess further in the counselling profession.
This course is designed to engage the student in the use of counselling skills. The student will explore the underpinning theories of differing schools of counselling. However, the main emphasis will be on the practical application of these counselling skills. The course provides a firm footing for both those needing to have knowledge of more advanced counselling skills within their working lives [e.g. mentoring, nursing, personnel, care] and for those who wish to continue into the professional counselling arena
